  • The perfect family vacation! This house is beautiful - inside and out! The beds were extremely comfortable, the kitchen fully outfitted, and everything was marked so you didn't have to go through every cabinet to find what you were looking for! The location could not be any better! Tide pools right out the back door and depending on the tide, even a little swim area for littles. Saw turtles, eels, fish, & dolphins right out the back door! Very close to Beach 67 which we love! Can't wait to go back! Thank you for hosting us - we greatly appreciated your check-in flexibility and quick responses! Overall we couldn't have been happier! You guys thought of everything! Loved that there was even mosquito spray and a first aid kit available! The lights flicker a lot because you're using LED light bulbs with non LED dimmers. That would be the ONLY improvement I could suggest - everything else was outstanding! Thank you!!! Amy was super responsive and helpful! Thank you!

  • My friend and I had a fantastic vacation with whales jumping right off shore, rainbows & sunsets, and easy access to snorkeling throughout Puako at public access points. She had never been to Hawaii and I must say, she couldn’t have stayed at a better place to take it in. Property management was great and responsive. Place was very well equipped indoors and with beach supplies. Would definitely stay here again if it’s available.

    My family loved staying at this wonderful house! It has everything you need and it is very clean. The beach is rocky but if you wear sandals or water shoes, you can explore. The area is quiet and safe. There's a convenience store just across the street for snacks and sandwiches, and other things.

Beach chairs and umbrellas appreciated as was the second refrigerator ( great for cold drinks. )Two of the bedrooms are spectacular but the third bedroom is far less nice, twin beds , no view, less privacy off the kitchen.

    Our family had a blissful stay at this fabulous beach home. Our 7-month old was in heaven playing in the tide pools just outside the back deck on our own private beachfront. The two master suites, upstairs and downstairs, in addition to the guest room was the perfect layout for privacy, and the home had every amenity you could think of - the kitchen was beyond fully equipped, tons of baby items, and great beach amenities. We felt extremely well cared for. We miss it already and will definitely be back!

The home is situated on a beautiful private stretch of beach, has lovely furnishings, and the size made us feel like it was a true home away from home. Note that you are charged a non-refundable cleaning fee and a concierge fee regardless of whether you avail yourself of concierge services which is generally not the case with other luxury properties we've stayed at. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay and would return here again.

    From the moment you walk in the door with the host you feel like every detail was prepared just for you. From the AC cranked up to the music playing in every room. They really have rolled out the red carpet for us. Every soap bottle is filled and every towel is placed with anticipation of your need. This is without exaggeration the nicest vacation rental we have stayed in. We didn’t want to ever leave the house. If you are into a morning swim, then look no further. You could swim out at any moment, day or night and see thousands of fish, rays and turtles. Bring an underwater flashlight and go out at night. The reef explodes with life and everything is out eating dinner. The neighbors are a delight and so welcoming. Made us feel like moving here. We will be back!

    I recently stayed at this Puako home for 5 nights with my two daughters. Holly greeted us when we got there to go over all the details of the house, the stay and the area which was very nice. It is an amazingly beautiful home which is spacious, and tastefully and serenely decorated.The beds are so comfortable and sleeping to the sound of the waves was so wonderful. Being right on the beach was amazing! I am so glad I stayed here rather than at a resort complex or in Kona. The peace and quiet of Puako was desperately needed and sincerely appreciated. I have stayed at many beachfront properties and I think this one is my all-time favorite!

    This home is just simply perfect! The open living area and back covered porch and oceanfront is where we spent all of our time. It was so easy to be prepping meals while watching kids tide pooling. We rented kayaks to be delivered and had great fun exploring the Puako Bay Area. We enjoyed visiting with neighboring renters as well as full time owners each night at sunset. Oh- and being right across the street from the general store was heaven for us all also- we spent so much less time in the car this vacation than ever before!

The house is even lovelier in person than it is in the photos; with a very open floor plan and so tastefully decorated. The waterfront location, short drive to beautiful beaches, and the market across the street made every day easy. I highly recommend this property and would stay again!

    A beautiful home awaits! We enjoyed our stay immensely--from morning coffee on the lanai to the gorgeous sunsets, each day held new discoveries. We watched each morning as a small flock of night herons flew out over the tide pools and landed on the lava, watching and waiting patiently for their prey. One morning, one of them caught a fish and swallowed it whole, right in front of the house (got some great photos)! There was a parade of wild turkeys that sauntered by, and there were myna birds clowning around with their raucous calls. Watching the honu (Hawai'ian green sea turtles)--so graceful in the water, so lethargic on land--and all manner of tropical fish made for hours of enjoyment. We saw a peacock flounder hiding in the sandy bottom, a snowflake eel, schools of Moorish idols, numerous butterfly fish, yellow tangs and many, many other species during our snorkeling and kayaking excursions. As if that's not enough, each evening brought another day-ending masterpiece over the Pacific. Truly magic!

    This home was perfect for a family of 6. It is beautifully decorated, extremely clean and comfortable, the kitchen is amazing, the views...well, you have to come and see for yourself. It is right on the ocean in Puako, across the street from a great General Store, and about five miles from a larger store (Foodland). There are plenty of beach things to use...beach/water shoes of many sizes, and boogie boards. The owner is wonderful, as is the local caretaker. Holly and her husband Peter, take great care of this home and make sure that your vacation is trouble free. We loved this home and hope to return someday!

    The house design and furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. You're immediately drawn in with it's open Hawaiian themed decor and incredible front exposure to Puako Bay. The views and proximity to all kinds of real vacation recreation can not be beat. My only hesitation in absolutely raving about this place is being able to book it again in the future. It's a real gem!

    The house was as pictured on line with 3 full suites. The views out the back were fantastic along with the sound of the waves. Sunsets were all we had hoped for. Kitchen had plenty of pots, pans and utensils along with basic (and some not so basic) pantry items for stay-at-home cooking. The little store across the street had most essentials but a trip to the supermarket in Waimea or Kailua Kona netted larger selections. Kawaihae is a little town just about 15 minutes north with shops and fresh fish available. The Original Big Island Shaved Ice Company food truck in the Blue Dragon parking lot is not to be missed! Eating breakfast and dinner out on the lanai was fantastic! The rental manager Holly was very helpful and pointed out local sights and things to do. It should be mentioned that we were there during the hurricane/tropical storm Iselle which put a bit of a dent in our adventure, but everything worked out well. The house had bikes, snorkeling equipment, coolers and other things that made day trips easy or just hanging around fun. The water right out the back was not deep, but during high tide you could walk/swim out to deeper water. At low tide, you could walk out 30 yards or so on the volcanic rock and see lots of sea urchins, coral, small fish and several times sea turtles. Fortunately someone recommended water shoes which are a must on the volcanic rock. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a less touristy location but within easy walking/biking or driving distance to great beaches, Volcano National Parks, Akaka Falls and so forth while being able to just sit, relax, and listen to the ocean all day if that's what you want to do.

    Fantastic stay at this Puako home. The beds were fabulously comfortable and the showers spa-like and hot after a "hard" day snorkeling along the lava reef in front of the house. It was the so amazing to wake up, grab a cup of coffee and wander across the lawn to the beach every morning - a 30 second stroll. What a way to start each day! Everyday there were giant sea turtles basking on the lava or swimming in the tide pools in front of the house. The neighborhood is wonderful, peaceful and friendly. Love the General Store just across the street - a mini grocery that you can run to in your swimsuit! Cannot say enough about how magical this place is. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family over ANY hotel any day! Even learned to stand-up paddleboard here. Thank you for a great vacation experience!

    We just got home from an incredible vacation at this beautiful home in Puako. We were one of 3 couples who shared this wonderful, immaculately clean, fully stocked home that was right on the ocean with its own beach right in front. Based on the description of the home, we were expecting a real nice home. We were not disappointed. In fact, the home was even nicer than we imagined! It was perfect, fantastic & so clean. All the furniture was so nice, beautiful & comfortable (both the indoor & outdoor furniture). The decorations were exquisite, the etched glass doors beautiful as was all the art work! The owner obviously cares so much about her home & wants it to be perfect for her guests. We felt like cherished guests. We felt at home right away. Holly, the manager came over and made sure everything was ok. She answered our questions, gave us lots of great information about the area, & made us feel very welcome. The gardener brought us fresh delicious bananas! Everything was there... Very comfortable couches & chairs, big screen TV, beautiful big dining room table, AC, 2 big clean refrigerators with ice makers & one wet bar refrigerator! The kitchen had everything you would want, utensils, spices, coffee grinder, knives, paper towels, storage bags, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, etc. The laundry room was excellent too. Laundry detergent, big nice clean washer & dryer. There is a supply closer in the laundry room that has extras of everything, toilet paper, paper towels, light bulbs, Kleenex, etc. The bedrooms were wonderful too. The beds were very comfortable, soft lovely sheets and nice soft towels. There were even lots of hangers for your clothes! The bathrooms were big & beautiful, lovely granite counter tops & travertine shower walls. The showers are big & as with everything in the home, very clean! We loved being across from the General Store. We could just walk right over & get whatever we wanted or needed! I ran out of limes for Mai tai's. The limes at the General Store were actually 30 cents cheaper than Foodland, a major market on the Island! The snorkeling in Puako was the best we have experienced in Hawaii. We swam with turtles and lots of fish every day! We swam at the end of the road where there is a pretty easy way to get into the ocean. This home was fantastic! We definitely hope to come back again.     We have rented many rental houses for our family vacations. Some have been memorable, some forgettable.. This house is certainly one of the very best decisions that we have made. The house is beautiful and exceptionally well equipped. We lacked for nothing. It was secluded, quiet, clean, spacious and inviting. The ocean in front of the house is filled with sea turtles and opportunities for snorkeling and kayaking. There is a wonderful market right across the street whose owners made us feel as though we were locals. The owner and the property manager were both pleasures to deal with. The house is equipped with kayaks, bikes, snorkel masks, life vests, beach chairs. None of us wanted to leave and we definitely hope to return to this house soon.
